These four female pilots leaving their ship at the four engine school
at Lockbourne are members of a group of WASPS who have been trained to
ferry the B-17 Flying Fortresses.

May is: Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Military Appreciation Month,
Military Spouse Day & Mothers Day.

What don't you understand? Those women have just finished training in an
older B-17 (note that there is no chin turret) so that they can help the war
effort by delivering aircraft to the USAAF from the Boeing Company. Guys
don't solo in B-17s and gals don't either.
